Inner Mongolia snaps Beijing's unbeaten run
BEIJING -- Newcomers Inner Mongolia ended Beijing's unbeaten record in overtime 83-80 while defending champions Dongguan won an eighth straight victory into the 2019-20 season of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league on Tuesday.
Natasha Howard led Inner Mongolia with a game-high 27 points. Wei wei scored 13 points, sinking a winner jumper with 3 seconds left in the overtime to secure the victory.
Beijing's Teaira McCowan had 26 points and 16 rebounds, Shao Ting finished with 13 points.
Dongguan routed Shandong 109-69 to remain undefeated. The defending champions faced little resistance and turned the game into a rout by leading 56-22 at the halftime.
Bayi had six players scored in double figures to sail past Xinjiang 108-92 as Sun Mengran and Li Meng each had 24 points.
Elsewhere, Jiangsu overcame Sichuan 88-52, Tianjin lost to Daqing 101-90, Shannxi defeated Fujian 84-77, Hebei beat Wuhan 61-50, Zhejiang outclassed Henan 81-61.
