Flamengo held to 4-4 draw by Vasco
RIO DE JANEIRO - A stoppage-time goal from substitute Lucas Ribamar earned Vasco da Gama a 4-4 draw with leaders and local rivals Flamengo in the Brazilian Serie A championship on Wednesday.
Everton Ribeiro gave Flamengo the lead in the first minute of the Rio derby at the Maracana before Marrony and Yago Pikachu scored in quick succession for visitors.
Vasco's Danilo Barcelos turned the ball into his own net on the stroke of halftime but Vasco regained the lead shortly after the interval thanks to a Marcos Junior strike.
Flamengo's Brazil international midfielder Bruno Henrique netted twice in the space of 15 minutes as Flamengo wrested back the advantage. But Ribamar's 93rd-minute header denied Flamengo their 25th victory of the season and their fourth in succession.
The result left Flamengo 11 points clear of second-placed Palmeiras, who have a game in hand. Vasco remained 10th, seven points shy of sixth-placed Athletico Paranaense, who occupy the last of the Copa Libertadores places.
