The China-Russia New Media Youth Collaboration event kicked off in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Monday to deepen the friendship between young people from China and Russia and build a bridge for communication.

The event-an important part of the third China-Russia Internet Media Forum and New Media Exchange Activities on the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Russia Diplomatic Relations-will run for 10 days this year.

During the exchange program, 12 teachers and university students from China and Russia will visit tech companies, high-tech entrepreneurship parks and cultural institutions throughout Wuxi and record developments on video.

Cai Wenyu, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Wuxi Municipal Committee, said during a speech at the opening ceremony that Wuxi was chosen as the host city for the event due to its rich culture and vibrant atmosphere.

He said that the city is ready to welcome both Chinese and Russian teachers and students and hopes to showcase its charm to the outside world.

Sun Hongjian, deputy secretary-general of the China Internet Development Foundation, noted at the ceremony that the exchange program serves as a platform for teenagers from China and Russia to communicate and discuss internet and new media.

He said he hoped that the program would strengthen new media communication between Russia and China and build a stronger connection between teenagers from the two countries.
