China vows more action if US hikes tariffs

China will absolutely continue to take resolute measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests if the United States puts into practice the tariff hikes on Chinese products as it announced, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang announced on Monday.
He made the remarks after US President Donald Trump announced an additional duty on some $550 billion in targeted Chinese goods on Friday.
"China is firmly opposed to the outright trade bullying and extreme pressure made by the US, and will never accept it," Geng said at a regular news conference in Beijing.
"I want to remind the US side again that threat or intimidation does not work on the Chinese side," he added.
