MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit France on Aug 19 to discuss with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron bilateral cooperation and the situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

"The topics are obvious: bilateral Russian-French cooperation, which has a very rich economic content, as well as international problems," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

During the one-day working visit, the leaders will also talk about Ukraine and discuss prospects for work on the Normandy Four format, he added.

The Normandy Four consists of Russian, Ukrainian, French and German senior representatives with an aim to resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

Last month, Macron told French media that he had invited Putin for talks at his summer retreat on the Mediterranean coast on Aug 19, days before the 45th G7 summit in Biarritz, France.
