Chinese health information technology company Meehealth joined hands with US-based company Ambient Clinical Analytics to launch a medical platform in Beijing on Wednesday, which can be used for the early recognition and treatment of acute illness and injury.

The medical platform, namely meeCERTAIN, can assist doctors with diagnosis and offer a medical graph for acute illness and injury. The platform has already been used in over 30 countries in the world during the past five years. Considering the situation of the Chinese medical system, Meehealth and Ambient Clinical Analytics adjusted the medical platform to better suit the Chinese market.

Al Berning, president of Ambient Clinical Analytics, said, "The platform can lead to quicker decisions and higher-quality decisions. It is the application of artificial intelligence in the medical field, which has been successful in many other areas. Our research showed that using the platform reduces the time for doctors to make decisions. It can help sort the data and present the information in a faster and more straightforward manner."

Specifically, meeCERTAIN standardizes the diagnosis process for acute illness and injury, in order to decrease the death rates and complications for acute diseases. Research showed that by guiding, timing and recording real-time clinical interventions, the platform efficiently reduces death rates, treatment periods and medical expenses.

Zhang Jiwu, chief executive officer of Meehealth, said that "the medical platform not only offers diagnosis assistance to medical professionals, but also serves as a place for doctors to accumulate and share their knowledge and experience. Through the platform, medical professionals can exchange medical knowledge and improve the quality of their medical services to benefit more patients. This is the original intention of us bringing the product to China."

"The first couple of hours when a patient is sent to the hospital are very crucial, during which medical errors and delays can lead to serious consequences. The medical platform offers a checklist for diagnosis, practice-based guidance and a standardized procedure for treatment, offering the most efficient assistance in the first place," said Ognjen Gajic, a researcher who developed the medical platform.
