MACAO - The Macao SAR is ready to further integrate into the national development plan and assume its own responsibilities, Chief Executive of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chui Sai-on said on Monday night.

Chui made the remarks after the unveiling of an Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which was released by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council.

The plan, which is of great importance and provides great opportunities for the Macao SAR, explicated the Macao SAR's role in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and its important position in the national strategy, Chui noted.

The objective of the plan is to promote the development of the nine cities in Guangdong Province, the Macao SAR, and the Hong Kong SAR, so as to push forward the overall socio-economic development and to upgrade social management of the country, he added.

Through the construction of a world-class Greater Bay Area, which is guided by ecological, technological and cultural virtues, the plan also aims at improving the social life and economic development of the area, thus laying a solid foundation for the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Chui said.

He stressed that the Macao SAR would continue to uphold the principle of "one country, two systems", and put national interest as its priority.

The Macao SAR is willing to deepen cooperation with other cities in the Greater Bay Area and make its own contributions to the national strategic development, so as to achieve greater success in terms of integration into national development, Chui added.
