Taiwan appoints new chief administrator

TAIPEI -- Su Tseng-chang, former chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, was appointed the chief of Taiwan's executive body, replacing Lai Ching-te, who resigned on Friday, according to a news briefing by the office of the island's leader.
Lai and the entire executive body announced their resignation Friday.
