How should a movie fan mark the upcoming end to the Year of the Dog? A new film about “man’s best friend” could be a heartwarming option.

A Dog's Way Home, adapted from a New York Times and USA Today bestselling book penned by W. Bruce Cameron, will open across domestic theaters on Jan 18, one week later than its North American release.

Produced by Columbia Pictures in association with the Chinese studio Bona Film Group, the movie is about Bella, a mixed-breed puppy who treks more than 600 kilometers to return to her owner Lucas.
