Michael Garvey, director of BBC National Orchestra of Wales, says China is becoming a growing market for symphony music

Classical music lovers will welcome a feast for the ears as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales will hold five concerts in four Chinese cities from Dec 15 to 21. The China tour is supported by the British Council in China, Wales Arts International and the Arts Council of Wales.

What music will highlight the China tour? As more international orchestras come to perform in China, what are the main attractions of the Chinese music market? What changes have been seen in the development of Chinese orchestras over the past decades? BBC NOW's Principal Guest Conductor Zhang Xian and Director Michael Garvey sit down with China Daily website to discuss these issues and more.

If you go:
Dec 15/16 - National Center for the Performing Arts, Beijing
Dec 18 - Changsha Concert Hall, Changsha
Dec 19 - Qintai Concert Hall, Wuhan
Dec 21 - Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen (Joint performance with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra)
