Mbappe injured in France's 1-0 victory over Uruguay
PARIS -- World champions France's 1-0 international friendly victory over Uruguay was overshadowed by teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe's shoulder concern at the Stade de France here on Tuesday.
Mbappe appeared to injure his shoulder following a tackle with Uruguayan goalkeeper Martin Campana on the half hour mark. After holding on for a while, Mbappe was replaced by Florian Thauvin. He will undergo the test on Wednesday morning.
One day after failing to make into the UEFA Nations League finals, Franace made a bit redemption for that through forward Olivier Giroud's penalty in the 52nd minute.
Giroud notched his 33rd international goal for Les Bleus through a spot kick after Martin Cacares was penalized for handball.
With seven points from four matches in Nations League, France bid farewell to the finals due to an inferior head-to-head record against the Netherlands, sitting second in Group 1 of League A.
Tuesday's win against Uruguay could somehow conclude a successful year for France, who claimed their second World Cup in Russia this summer.
