The Sharing China - Happy Chinese New Year Photo Contest 2018 unveiled its winning entries on July 31.
Launched on Jan 1, the contest caught extensive attention both in China and abroad. The organizer received more than 5,000 photo submissions from more than 500 participants in over 50 countries and regions, including the US, UK, Spain, Germany, Australia and Canada. Many of these photos were of professional quality.
After a comprehensive evaluation of the works from the perspectives of international communication value, theme and photography skill, the jury finally selected 10 first prize collections (groups), 30 second prize collections (groups), and 60 third prize collections (groups). They will be included in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's publicity material and may be used in the ministry's cultural activities or cultural products, such as exhibition, publication, poster and photo album design. With the support of Bureau for External Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, this online campaign was hosted by Chinaculture.org, organized by China Daily website and co-organized by China Photographers Association. The photo contest joins hands with the “Happy Chinese New Year” series of events, inviting people from all over the world to share their photos and stories on various aspects of Chinese New Year via Chinaculture.org and its Facebook page, China Daily Forum and blog.
Chinaculture.org successfully held its first “Just Share It - Happy Chinese New Year” global online photo contest in 2015. Renamed "Sharing China", the contest concluded its fourth session with great impact and heavy response. Apart from photo contest, there was also a short film contest under the same title, which received nearly 300 video entries filmed in more than 60 countries and regions, and announced results on April 17.
