The Ministry of Commerce said the US' move to escalate trade frictions will push the global economy into the trap of uncertainty.

Ministry spokesman Gao Feng said the influence of an eventual implementation by the US side will impact more businesses and consumers between two countries, and it may also cause a global economic recession.

"China resolutely opposes such behavior and will have to take the necessary countermeasures," he said.

To address US trade protectionism, China will continue to assess impact on its companies and take measures accordingly, such as encouraging the companies to adjust their export structures and exploring other international markets.

"We will always find a way out amid difficulties," Gao said.

He said China will confront challenges by actively transforming and upgrading its industries, adjusting investment structure, exploring markets at home and abroad and supporting enterprises conducting technical training.
