People tend to associate public works staff with labor like building roads and bridges, jobs that have little to do with exquisite handicraft art.

But an exhibition featuring handicraft works from staff of public works departments ditched the stereotype in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Mar 5. The exhibition collected more than 200 works, including egg carvings, paintings and paper-cuttings from staff members and their families.
