The 2018 Shenyang international cultural lantern festival will open to public at the Shenyang Expo Park in Shenyang, Liaoning province on Feb 1.

The lantern festival is sponsored by Shenyang Tourism Group with a package worth 15 million yuan ($2.35 million) and covers an area of 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares).

More than 100 groups of lanterns are expected to be on exhibition, with a total length of 5.5 kilometers.

Themed on the Silk Road, the lanterns on exhibition will showcase features of countries along the Silk Road, as well as the stages of Shenyang’s development into an important central city in Northeast China.

Five exhibition areas will be set up during the festival, where visitors can experience cultures of different countries and areas along the Silk Road.

The lantern festival will accept visitors from 9 am to 9 pm daily, and may extend to late hours during the Spring Festival.
