BEIJING - Tencent Pictures, a subsidiary of Chinese internet giant Tencent, intends to expand cooperation with overseas film and TV companies on new productions.

The company has partnered with US media company Turner Asia Pacific in making "Tuzki," a movie about a popular cartoon rabbit that combines live action and computer-generated imagery, according to a statement from Tencent Pictures.

It will also work on "Zombie Brother," the company's first international live action film, with Hollywood producers, directors and screenwriters by adapting a hit cartoon adventure story about zombies.

Both "Tuzki" and "Zombie Brother" will be released overseas, the company said.

Another Tencent Pictures project, called "20,000 Miles," will feature Chinese director Lu Chuan and a Hollywood crew to present a science fiction story about time travel set in China.

The company also gave an update on "The Tibet Code," a Sino-US co-written TV drama unveiled last year based on a Chinese novel about adventures in Tibet.

A film version of "The Tibet Code" will be produced with the hopes of hitting the overseas market, said Chen Hongwei, deputy general manager of Tencent Pictures.

More than 60 percent of the movie and TV programs being developed by Tencent Pictures are adapted from literature and cartoons, said company chairman Ren Yuxin.

"Tencent will make more long-term investment in the movie and TV business," Ren said.
