Top seed Zhang advances to table tennis final

LONODN - Europe's sole hope of winning a table tennis single medal was dashed when Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov was beaten 4-1 by top seed Zhang Jike of China in the semifinal on Thursday.
Zhang won the game 11-8, 11-3, 5-11, 11-9 and 11-8.
Ovtcharov got the semifinal berth after a seven-set tight match against Denmark's Michael Maze.
Zhang's teammate Wang Hao, seeded number 2, will face Chuang Chih-Yuan from Chinese Taipei in another semifinal.
