Officials vulnerable to health risks

A report on Chinese officials' health was published Tuesday,revealing that 40 percent of officials are overweight or obese with Beijing's officials facing the highest pressure and the condition of high-level officials even worse, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

The survey, compiled of 92,320 questionnaires, was organized by relevant medical institutions and websites covering 589 cities in China's 31 provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions, the report said.

Common diseases include cervical disease (34%), laryngitis (28%), Hemorrhoids (24%), chronic enteritis (20%) and fatty liver (20%). Most of the diseases are as a result of lack of exercises, job pressure, irregular sleeping and eating habits, according to the report.
